You Approve the Look Before We Touch the Project

This is the part of the process worth understanding, because it is what stops a grade going wrong at scale.

First, you send footage and a reference. Log or RAW, and something concrete showing the look you want: one of your own films, a still, a feature you like.

Then we grade four or five shots, deliberately chosen across different lighting conditions. A dim ceremony, a blown-out window, golden hour outside, tungsten on the dancefloor. A look that only works in one of those is not a look, it is a lucky shot.

You lock it. Change it, push it, ask for something else entirely. This is the cheap moment to do that.

Only then does it go across the whole project. By the time we are grading the full wedding, there is nothing left to disagree about.

What Is Included

• Multi-camera matching. Two or three operators standing in different places will not agree on exposure or white balance. Bringing every angle to a common baseline before any look goes on is the difference between a graded film and a film with graded shots in it.
• Node-based grading, not a LUT dropped on a timeline.
• Shot-by-shot balancing across the whole event, so the film holds together as light changes through the day.

What We Need

Log or RAW from a professional camera. 4K 10-bit is our preference and gives us the most room to work.

If your situation is different, whether a different codec, mixed formats or something shot in a hurry, talk to us rather than guessing. We would rather tell you honestly what is possible with what you have than have you assume it is a problem when it is not.

What It Costs, and Why It Is Not the Same as the Grade in a Film Edit

You may notice a highlight film is $350 including colour and sound. That is not a contradiction. It is a different job.

When we edit the film, the grade only ever touches the shots that made the cut: a few minutes of material somebody has already selected. A standalone grade works across the footage you send, which is usually the whole wedding, and it has to hold up across every lighting condition of the day rather than a handful of chosen shots.

More footage, more conditions, more matching. That is where the price comes from.

What You Get Back

The graded footage rendered at the highest quality we can give you.

If you want the Resolve project, the nodes and the LUTs, you can have those too. One caveat worth stating plainly: some of the plugins we use are paid, so you would need your own licences before that project will open the way it did here. For most people the rendered files are all they actually need.

How to Send Us the Work

Footage goes on Google Drive, Dropbox or whichever cloud storage you already use. There is no size limit.

Fill in the project intake form so we know what you are after before we start, and send a reference: a film of yours, a look you like, anything concrete. A reference is worth more than three paragraphs of description.
